As this socket has a mains powered transmitter fitted inside it will transmit room conversations without the fear of replacing batteries and generally is used for long term surveillance. The socket is a double switched type and will still power anything plugged to it as normal and without effecting the transmitter. It will continue to transmit as long as the mains supply is on.
